Choral Readings
Some of the schoolmarms at Cornell School like to practice choral readings with their students. Below are several examples:
Trees
by Joyce Kilmer I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree. A tree whose humgry mouth is prest Against the earth's sweet flowing breast; A tree that looks at God all day, And lifts her leafy arms to pray; A tree that may in Summer wear A nest of robins in her hair; Upon whose bosom snow has lain; Who imtimately lives with rain. Poems are made by fools like me, But only God can make a tree. |
It Couldn't Be Done
by Edgar A. Guest Somebody said that it couldn't be done, But he with a chuckle replied That "maybe" it couldn't, but he would be one Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn't be done, and he did it. Sayings of Abraham LIncoln
You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people ome of the time; but you can't fool all the people all of time. |
