Skits and Stories

The following suggested skits and stories have been developed over the years that Cornell School has been providing "A Day in the Life at Cornell School"programming.
Famous Ohio Pioneers

Mrs. Hazel Almendinger served as one of Cornell School's volunteer schoolmarms for a number of years. During her time with the school she researched and developed skits and/or stories that can be used by other acting schoolmarms. Children enjoy seeing these characters come to life right inside the one-room schoolhouse. Below is a brief description of each of Hazel's skits/stories.

Billy Dragoo
Johnny Appleseed

Health Topics

Mrs. Mary Thomas, former Searfoss Elementary School principal, was also one of Cornell School's long-time serving schoolmarms. She introduced the students to early 1900's personal hygiene and health through her skit as Nurse Maude.

A Play to Perform
"The Past Revisited" is a skit about a real-life former student at Cornell School named Charlotte Smootz. The skit has Charlotte revisiting her old one-room schoolhouse and she reminiscences with the current schoolmarm about her experiences at Cornell School. Two adults could play the parts of the young and old schoolmarms
